Creamfields, Cork City
Creamfields is a large-scale Strategic Housing Development (SHD) in Cork designed to deliver a high-quality, well-connected neighbourhood with a strong focus on placemaking, public realm and sustainable urban living. R.E.M. was engaged to develop a compelling brand and communication strategy to support the project’s planning application and stakeholder engagement.
We worked closely with the development and planning team to craft a strong narrative and visual identity that would present the project with clarity, professionalism and local relevance.
The name “Creamfields” reflects the site’s natural character and historical use, striking a balance between heritage and modernity. We created a clean, contemporary visual identity that could scale across both planning and marketing phases. The brand was designed to be community-friendly and accessible, with a soft, optimistic tone of voice.
We designed a visually rich, professionally written brochure to support the planning submission. It clearly outlined the scale, design quality and community benefits of the project, combining planning data with aspirational storytelling. The brochure was developed in both print and digital formats, and used throughout the consultation process.
We created a dedicated planning website to serve as a digital repository for all statutory documents and drawings associated with the SHD application. The website featured clear navigation, bilingual content, and downloadable planning materials, with a clean, responsive layout that made it easy for stakeholders to access and review the submission.
Our team developed all external messaging, including key statements, summaries and positioning language to ensure consistency across presentations, consultation materials and online platforms. The messaging focused on sustainability, housing need, community integration and long-term impact — all aligned with the project’s planning goals.
We worked with the development team to shape the public narrative around the project at launch, including media liaison, press release writing, and stakeholder briefings. Our aim was to communicate the project’s potential in a balanced, confident and transparent way — ensuring accurate coverage and positive engagement with local audiences.
Outcome
Creamfields SHD was presented as a high-quality, people-first development that would positively contribute to the future of Cork’s housing landscape. The branding, website and communications strategy helped frame the application with clarity and purpose, supporting both community engagement and the planning process.
